Calathea lancifolia - two sizes
Native to Brazil, Calathea lancifolia (or 'Rattlesnake plant') has become very popular as an indoor plant because of the striking pattern on its leaves. As a prayer plant, it will respond to the different levels of light throughout the day by opening and closing its leaves - this may lead to the occasional rustling, or 'rattle'!
Your Calathea will like bright, indirect light, but will also suit a shadier position. Keep your Calathea away from any direct sun. Being from tropical environments, Calathea prefer in a warm, humid position. During the active growing period allow at least an inch of the medium to dry out. During winter you can push this to half way. Keep your Calathea away from cold draughts and radiators.
All plants are sold in their nursery pots. Decorative pots are sold seperately. You can choose your pot style from our Pot Collection.
We've styled the 14cm pot in our Saar cement pot, but it will fit well into our medium Bali pots or medium Almada pot. The Lancifolia in it's 17cm nursery pot fits snuggly into our medium Almada pot but would fit well in the large size too.
Do not pot directly into our decorative pots. It's much better for your plant to keep it in its nursery pot to allow adequate drainage.
