Monstera variegata 'B'
One of the most prized and sought after houseplants on the market is the Variegated Monstera. Variegation has a marbling effect and is a brilliant white. Ocassionally the plant will produce pure white fragments of variegation, which can make the plant more attrative to buyers.
Variegation on these Monstera can be unstable and if given the wrong care can revert back to being green. This is because the white part of the leaves contain no chlorophyll, which can be classed as a deformaty. It's likely in the wild this plant wouldn't be able to survive.
To keep the white variegation it's brilliant white colour, you must give the plant the best conditions you can. This can prove to be difficult. White variegation can brown easily. If the plant becomes too stressed it will begin to pump more chlorophyll into the leaves and you will loose the variegation.
We recommend these plants for intermediate indoor growers or enthusiats that are used to growing variegated plants, as they can show signs of stress easily and can be harder to grow.
Give your Variegated Monstera consistent bright, filtered light. As they are variegated you need to give them slightly higher light levels than a classic cheese plant. You will notice the variegation change depending on the light levels the plant is receiving.
Your Variegated Monstera will appreciate having higher humidity, this should help in keeping your variegation looking it's best. Monstera are epiphytes and love to receive plenty of oxygen. Allow up to half the medium to be dry before watering again. It's key to keep your Monstera in it's ideal conditions to not stress it. We would also recommend to give your Monstera a moss pole to grow on. Due to having variegation your Monstera will grow a little slower than its classic cousin.
All plants are sold in their nursery pots. Decorative pots are sold seperately. You can choose your style pot from our Pot Collection. Do not pot directly into our decorative pots. It's much better for your plant to keep it in its nursery pot to allow adequate drainage.
